About me

Hi I am James Cunningham, I am in the second year of obtaining my bachelor's degree in physics, computer science and math.

Originally I was planning to get a degree in aerospace engineering, but during my time in high school/early college I met and worked closely with David Johnstone from Oregon Institute of Technology. The passion and joy he showed me was contagious, and during my last year of high school he invited me to take an experimental course in quantum computing with he and one of his colleagues were teaching. That course changed the entire trajectory of my career, and my life. I enjoyed the class and the quantum computing software so much that I decided that I wanted to be a physicist rather than an engineer. Now I am pursuing what I need to learn to be able to work on quantum computers at Lewis and Clark College through my physics/computer science/math.

I graduated from Clackamas Web Academy and Clackamas Community College simultaneously in the 2024/2025 academic year with both my high school diploma and an associate's degree. As of summer 2026 I am participating in my first internship developing simulation software for research, I couldn't be happier. The people I'm working with are awesome and the work is rewarding. It's also exactly what I need to learn in order to work on more practical q-computing simulations

I can't wait to see what the future holds.

  • My 2025-2026 web development work for class

  • Some of my personal projects from 2024-2025

  • My financial projection portal is a project i am currently planning, i intend to create an application that pulls financhial infromation from interactive \brokers\yahoo finance's api and create several auttomatic trading algorythems that can utilise that infromation in paper trading to simulate their behavior
If all goes well and the algorythems are profitable i plan to impliment them on the actuall exchanges
